Dr. Heasley graduated in 1981 with a B.S. in Mining Engineer from The Pennsylvania State University. Previous to graduation, he was employed as a student mining engineering technician at Consols Hillsboro underground mine in Illinois and as a student environmental technician at the Consols Mahoning Valley surface mining complex in Ohio. After graduation, he was employed as a project engineer for underground mines in the Midwestern Region of Consolidation Coal Company where he helped engineFrom August, 1986 to August 2001, he was employed by the former U.S. Bureau of Mines and then the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health at the Pittsburgh Research Laboratory performing safety research in coal mine ground control. His research areas have included: numerical modeling, subsidence prediction, pillar design, coal bump prevention, instrumentation and mining seismicity. In 1993, Keith spent one year getting his classes for a Doctorate in Mining Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. | |
