There are six faculty and research staff in the mining engineering program, and all of them have a PhD in their areas of expertise. In addition to regular teaching and services duties, all of the faculty are very active in research projects that include computer applications, coal and mineral processing, mining/milling wastes management and closure, mine ventilation and ventilation networking, surface mining, mine management, mine health and safety, longwall mining, rock mechanics and ground control and modeling.
